Hello...
...and thanks for taking the time to view my photography.
I've been shooting on and off for over 50 years now. My work has been published in "Outdoor Photographer," "Panorama," "Best of California," "Windows of the World" (among others) and has been the subject of several one-man shows. I am a past instructor of photography in the graduate school of photography at Academy of Art University, in San Francisco.
Artistic:
My work is strongly grounded in the classic tenents of the fine arts, in which I was trained.
A fellow artist once noted that my work is very "Bauhausian" in form. That school, which came and went in the 1930's, was founded on the merging of the mechanical, the strongly graphic, with the organic. It features design stripped down to its fundamental elements. Upon reflection, I believe that influence is easy to see in my photos.
Thus it offers a unique view of traditional subjects, melding the eye of a painter and graphic designer, with the tools of photography. In that sense, it is "off the beaten path" of most modern photography.
Technical:
I shoot a Fuji S3 with Nikkor ED lenses, and produce my own prints on an Epson 3800, using K3 inks for assured print longevity.
On Figure Studies:
Any photos involving the nude body are approved by both the model and myself.
